13 Minnesota kids going Division I so far

Postby mjmuch » Tue Jun 01, 2010 2:39 pm

Here is the lead to our story on Minnesotapreps:

"Minnesota Preps began summing up the 2010 basketball class with a final ranking of 100 players a couple weeks back. The next step in the sendoff is to talk about each grouping of players in their designated areas. We start with the 13 players that will be on division one rosters next year, 11 of which have already signed.

Noreen is still in the process of choosing a school
Kevin Noreen is currently sifting through his potential options. Northwestern, Providence, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa, Iowa State, Boston College, and several others are still hoping to land the 6-foot-10 217 pound forward. The 2010 Mr. Basketball award winner is arguably the top remaining unsigned prospect in the nation and Kevin will be one of only three 2010 Minnesota high school products who will be playing high major basketball next season."

NSIC Recruiting 2010

Postby mjmuch » Wed Jun 02, 2010 12:57 pm

This story from Ryan James:

"Transfers often make up a decent share of the NSIC yearly recruiting classes with another large chunk of the new talent coming in from the Minnesota high school ranks. So far there are 18 known high school seniors from Minnesota headed to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with surely a few more to sign in the near future."

Who will be coming to the MIAC?

Postby mjmuch » Thu Jun 03, 2010 9:09 pm

Check out Ryan James' story on the incoming MIAC Class. Carelton really did have a nice season last year. Will they do it again. Does a great year really help with bringing in a new class?

"Each year it seems like the MIAC conference grabs a few players that shocked the basketball junkies and quite often it's St. John's and St. Thomas receiving the commitments. But Carleton brought in a great class last year that helped them win the MIAC playoffs and they have some names coming in once again."

Going JUCO

Postby mjmuch » Fri Jun 04, 2010 4:23 pm

Ryan James reports on Minnesota Players going JUCO

"There always seems to be one junior college that strikes gold in Minnesota every year bringing a platoon of players with them to a certain junior college. Last year Howard College came to the Twin Cities to grab Carlos Emory and a couple others and the year before that Western Nebraska snatched up five local players. This year Grayson Community College in Texas and Gillette Community College in Wyoming have been busy in Minnesota.

Before we get into who is going where the first thing one must understand about junior colleges is that many of them are honestly only about halfway done with their 2010 classes. Already rumors are flying around about one of our state's top ten recruits having to go to a junior college instead of a division one school and don't be surprised if a couple others out there don't pass through the NCAA clearinghouse. Plus you have several guys who are uncommitted right now how could chose the juco route."

Minnesota Comet 16s win again

Postby mjmuch » Tue Jun 08, 2010 1:20 pm

Story lead from Ryan james:

"When the Minnesota Comets Elite won the 16 and Under AAU State Championship 63-51 over the Minnesota Heat Elite on Sunday they pushed their team record to 18-3 on the season. St. Cloud Cathedral guard Joe Burt had another standout tournament for the Comets Elite constantly on the attack and Becker big man Damien Reinke got things done with his touch all over the floor."

Marvin Singleton to UNI

Postby mjmuch » Wed Jun 09, 2010 12:28 pm

Ryan James lead:

"On Monday night Minnesota Preps reported that Hopkins 6-foot-4 combo forward Marvin Singleton picked up an important offer and that offer came from Sweet 16 participant Northern Iowa. Singleton impressed the Panther staff this past weekend with a strong showing at their weekend elite camp."

Seth Hinrichs - MACCRAY story from Ryan James

Postby mjmuch » Fri Jun 11, 2010 12:32 pm

"Six-foot-6 MACCRAY small forward Seth Hinrichs is as feared a shooter as we have in Minnesota's 2011 class. There are a couple guys around the state who can hit with similar accuracy but those players don't have Seth's length on the perimeter. As a junior Seth scored 15.5 points per game hitting 53 percent of his field goals this year."

Simon Krych - Apollo - from Ryan James

Postby mjmuch » Sun Jun 13, 2010 1:11 pm

"Six-foot-8 Simon Krych is one half of the St. Cloud Apollo "Frontcourt Muscle". Krych teams with fellow junior Blake Maslonkowski to form arguably the most intimidating frontline in Minnesota next year. The pair also play together on the Minnesota Comets Elite squad where Krych is getting a lot of recruiting interest plus the team is coming together."
