2) how long are the halfs? and OT?
3) what is the official game ball- and does it have to have the nfhs symbol on it?

swimn01,

1. Yes, you can sub a player in to shoot a technical foul free throw. ANY player on the team, whether he/she is on the becnch or on the floor is eligible to shoot.

2. A varsity half is 18 minutes long. An overtime is 4:00 minutes long.

3. The ball doesn't have to be a particular brand but it does have to have the NFHS logo on it.

4. Yes, the person throwing in the ball is allowed to move along he endline after a made basket or a made free throw.

Thanks for the question.

Is Minnesota still the only state that uses two 18-minute halves instead of four eight-minute quarters?

codger,

I have heard that there may be other states that have adopted halves instead of quarters, but I do not know who they are.

Thanks for the question.
