The "FLU" and tournament time

Browsing the web and saw that Windom volleyball postponed their game against Pipestone for one week because most of the team was out with the flu. If this situation would happen during tournament time, that could be devastating for a team that has high expectations. Are there any thoughts on what could/should happen if this situation arises during playoffs? I could see a situation with players pushing to be present even with all of the recommendations to stay away and get better. Thoughts?
