Well, we will have at least one more week of Little Sioux Conference predictions. This week we get two:

Dawson-Boyd 21 @ Minneota 34

Murray County Central 6 @ Adrian 20

I know both games ar at SMSU, but just indicating home team on the scoreboard as I have all year. I think they will both be great games and it looks like good weather to watch them. Good luck to everybody.

Minneota 35 Dawson Boyd 28 I still like the VIkings in this contest. Dawson Boyd had a great game last week against a tough MACCRAY team but Minneota is still tough even missing a big player on defense and along their O-line.

Adrian 14 MCC 12 Adrian is the favorite in this game they have beaten MCC 7 of the last 8 games. The first game was a close game 13-0 in favor of Adrian but the defenses dominated the game. MCC can win this game but they need to make some big plays against the tough Adrian defense. Unlike a team like Wabasso the Rebels dont rely on one single player to dominate the ball.

Minneota will represent 5A. Dawson Boyd jumped out to an early 13-0 lead with a long score by Anderson and Swenson punched it an option play. Minneota answered in the middle of the 2nd quarter with a run by Noyes and went in at halftime down 13-6. Kurka scored on a long pass and they go the 2 point conversion. Minneota tacked on another score in the 4th with the 2 point conversion to make it a score of 22-13 Which is the way it ended up.

DB looked very good in the first half then Minneota kicked it in upfront in the 2nd half. They dominated the line of scrimmage. DB had there chances but just couldn't put a drive together in the 2nd half. Some of that has to do with them trailing and not being able to run the ball with there go to guy Matt Anderson.

Guys that really impressed me from both side were (surprise, surprise) Sam Derynck and Matt Anderson. Derynck did a great job down the stretch. He made some good throws and picked up some yards on a couple off tackle QB keepers. Throws a very nice ball and usually finds the open man. For DB Matt Anderson is dangerous in the open field. He looked very good good playing on that turf at SMSU, his game is a lot of vision and cutting and it seemed to make him more explosive.

How about Mike Hammer! The heart that he played with today was unreal. Played on the offensive line with that knee injury he had. That is playing with guts. I hope Minneota does our section and the Little Sioux proud and bring home the class A trophy.

Wow! What a great day for football at a beautiful facility. Congrats to Minneota and Adrian and Good Luck!

Like it was said in an earlier post, Matt Anderson is a stud. He looked very good yesterday. Looked like Minneota was going to give this one away with a few mistakes, but they fought back and pulled it out. So, if this is their worst day (or DB was their best opponent), LOOK OUT!

Adrian did exactly what they needed to do. They kept MCC out of the end zone. I thought MCC would have a little more for Adrian, but I think in the first half MCC got like 1 first down. In the second half (just like earlier in the year), MCC had some good drives, but Adrian stuffed them when they got in the red zone. If Adrian plays defense like that the rest of the season, it could be a Minneota - Adrian title fight! Good Luck Dragons.

Sorry, but I think you guys "missed it"
This was a game decided by defenses, not offenses.
Anderson (Matt, from DB) gained almost nothing in the entire 2nd half, actually including the last 1/2 of the 2nd qtr. Anderson (Brandon, from Minneota), a guy who's been a bit overlooked and underrated in comparison to Matt, gain almost all his yardage in the 2nd half. If Minneota didn't have so many offensive weapons, Brandon would probably lead the area in total yardage. Derynck is a great QB, Anderson a great back, but also watch Cheadle (speed back), Kurka (tight end/receiver), Noyes (wing back who can leave 3 guys frozen with a double fake and be around them in a second).
Once Dawson lost faith in Matt's ability to make the big gains, Minneota's defense was free to go after Swenson. Swenson got sacked a bunch, and Derynck was never sacked, only caught behind the line on an option call.

MCC's penalties killed any chances they had to win this game. It was 6-0 and they committed two terrible penalties that helped set up a TD when the Rebels pass defense blew a coverage. Adrian played strong defense the entire game and deserved to win the game. Though Adrian isnt as high powered as they have been on offense they are tough as normal on D. Also remember Adrian is a pretty young team a majority of their starters and top subs will return next year.

I think I saw it right in the program that Adrian has 2 freshmen getting LOTS of minutes on both sides of the ball (mainly on the line). Those were BIG boys getting extremely valuable experience early in their career.

If Minneota didn't have so many offensive weapons, Brandon would probably lead the area in total yardage.
I disagree. I think that it actually helps out Brandon with his yards that there are so many weapons. They cant key on just him and he picks op a lot of yards from misdirection that results from those other guys ability to make plays. They run that counter and a sweep to the wing backs and then they run that motion and hand it off to Anderson up the middle or to the back side and he get 7-8 yards. He doenst have the entire defense keying oh him on every single play. I would be willing to bet that if you put those 2 in the exact same situations. Same play, same line, same defense, and you had to hand it off to one or the other Matt Anderson would be picked to carry the ball by anybody that knows the game. Again, am I saying Brandon Anderson is bad, no. He is a very good back. Just a step below Matt Anderson.

Viking, If anybody on the Minneota team is overlooked it is Noyes. He is the heart and soul of that team. He does whatever is asked of him. He runs, catches, blocks, plays good defense. He does it all for that team. I would say that he and hammer are the two that seperate them from any other teams in class A. That being said, I wish Hammer was 100 percent for the state tourney.

GO LSC!

I don't watch Class A football much, but I watched the Adrian/MCC game.

Awful football. A completely boring game. I've gone to numerous section/state games over the past 4-5 years and have watched every level of competition. That game featured two very average football teams. Neither team was very athletic.

The sad thing about that whole game was that the second best Class A team at SMSU on Friday was the team that lost the first game of the day (Dawson-Boyd).

I've seen enough Class A football to know what a good team looks like, especially from this area of the state. I vividly remember the Minneota/KMS game last year. Two excellent teams. I remember watching Wabasso produce some very good teams. I can remember watching Adrian at the state tournament a couple of years ago.

Neither of those teams were at that level of performance.

The thing that made it worse was watching players fight with their own teammates. That was disgusting.
